Reasons Behind the Resignation of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi who is among the top leaders of the PML-N party and had been charged with the office of prime minister after Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification by the court in the Panama Papers case has sent his resignation as the senior vice president of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to the party’s president.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s disappointments
According to reliable sources, Abbasi was disappointed over the party leadership’s resolution to appoint Maryam Nawaz as the senior vice president and chief organizer of the ruling PML-N.
“Shahid Khaqan has had a serious difference of opinions with the party’s policies for a long time,” according to sources.
Here it should be noted that Abbasi had chosen not to accept a ministry or other office in the Shehbaz Sharif cabinet.
Sources said he was disheartened over the PML-N’s conduct with former finance minister Miftah Ismail.

According to PML-N sources, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who also serves as the PML-N President, has received his resignation from that position but has not yet accepted it.
